Depression
Depression counseling in Ormond Beach
When getting through the day takes everything you have. Steady, practical help, in person in Ormond Beach or online.
How I work with depression
Depression shrinks your world. It makes the smallest tasks feel heavy and tells you it will always be this way. Most people I see for depression say their life has started to feel unmanageable, and they need some guidance and healthier ways to cope.
We start small and concrete: sleep, routine, movement and the people around you. Then we work on the thinking patterns that keep you stuck, using CBT, DBT skills and mindfulness. You get space to talk it through without judgment, and practical steps to take between sessions.
What to expect
The first session is about helping you feel comfortable enough to open up. You tell me what brought you in and some background, at your own pace. Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or every other week.
If you are not safe right now
Counseling is not an emergency service. If you are thinking about suicide or you’re not safe, call or text 988, or call 911. In Volusia County, SMA Healthcare’s 24/7 crisis line is 1-800-539-4228.
This might be you if

- Things you used to enjoy feel like chores
- You keep telling yourself you should be able to handle this
- Sleep, appetite or energy have changed and won’t come back

FAQ
Common questions
How is counseling different from talking to a friend?
A friend loves you and wants you to feel better today. Counseling is built around what you want to change, with skills you practice between sessions and someone trained to notice the patterns that are hard to see from the inside.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. I’m a counselor, not a prescriber. If medication might help, talk with your doctor or a psychiatrist; counseling and medication often work well together.
Can I do this online?
Yes. Sessions are available by secure video anywhere in Florida, or in person at the office at 785 W Granada Blvd in Ormond Beach.
Ready when you are.
A short call to see whether we’re a good fit. Call, text or email, whichever is easiest.
