Online, anywhere in Florida

The same counselor, wherever in Florida you are.

I see people in person in Ormond Beach and by secure video across the state, from Pensacola to Key West. Same sessions, same fee, same person on the other end. If you live in a town with two counselors and a waitlist, or you’d rather not lose two hours to a drive, this is for you.

Who it suits

People who want experience, not proximity

Nearly 30 years in the field, from foster care to substance-abuse treatment. If that’s the kind of counselor you want and there isn’t one near you, distance stops mattering.

How it works

A link, a camera, a closed door

You get a link before each session. No app to install, nothing to set up. 50 minutes, usually weekly or every other week, on a platform built for health care.

The one rule

You need to be in Florida

I’m licensed in Florida, so you need to be in the state at the time of the session. Where in the state doesn’t matter.

What I work on by video

Everything I work on in the office: anxiety, depression, couples, families, substance use and relapse prevention, grief, life transitions, stress and burnout and adult ADHD. I use CBT, DBT and mindfulness, and the point is the coping skills you take into the rest of your week, which is the same whether you’re on my couch or your own.

Why people choose online

Some live where there isn’t much choice: a small town, a long waitlist, a counselor who is also their neighbor. Some can’t take two hours out of a workday for a drive and a session. Some are more honest at their own kitchen table than in an office. Some are couples or families spread across the state who can finally be in one room, even if it’s a screen. And some started with me in Ormond Beach, moved, and didn’t want to start over.

What a first online session is like

The same as in person. We start with a free 15-minute phone call so you can tell me what’s going on and I can tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit. If I am, the first session is about getting comfortable and getting the background: what brought you in, what you’ve tried, what you want to be different. You set the pace.

Across the state

Florida is big, and I see people from all of it. If you don’t see your town below, that’s only because the list would be very long.

  • Northeast. Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Palm Coast, Gainesville.
  • Central. Orlando, The Villages, Lakeland, Ocala, Daytona Beach.
  • Tampa Bay and the Gulf. Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Naples.
  • South. West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, the Keys.
  • Panhandle. Tallahassee, Panama City, Pensacola.

Fees

Same as in person: $150 for individual sessions, $175 for couples and families. Private pay, with a superbill if you want to submit to your insurer. Fees and insurance in full.

FAQ

Questions about online counseling.

Is online counseling as good as in person?

For most of what I work on, yes. Anxiety, depression, relationships, grief, burnout and recovery all work by video, and some things work better: you’re in your own space, there’s no drive, and it’s easier to keep a weekly rhythm. What matters more than the screen is the fit, and the free call tells us that.

Do I have to be in Florida?

Yes, at the time of the session. I’m licensed in Florida, so you need to be physically in the state when we meet. Anywhere in the state is fine: Pensacola, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Naples, Miami, the Keys, and every town between. If you travel out of state, we pause until you’re back.

What do I need?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera, a decent connection, and a place where you won’t be overheard. Earbuds help. You’ll get a link before each session; there’s nothing to install.

Is it private?

Sessions run on a video platform built for health care, and I don’t record them. The rest is on your end: a closed door, and a browser tab you close when we finish. My website privacy policy and Notice of Privacy Practices cover the details.

What about couples and families online?

Both work. Partners or family members can share one screen or each join from their own, which is often the only way to get everyone in the same room when they don’t live in the same city.

When is online not the right choice?

If you’re in crisis, need a higher level of care, or need someone who can see you in person quickly, I’ll say so and help you find it. This isn’t an emergency service: in an emergency call 911, or call or text 988.

Ready when you are.

A short call to see whether we’re a good fit. Call, text or email, whichever is easiest.
